napEDABC (Periplasmic nitrate reductase) Pseudomonas stutzeri JM300
Nap is a dissimilatory, periplasmic nitrate reductase which is expressed under aerobic conditions and is required for aerobic denitrification [1]. Nap is the first enzyme in the denitrification pathway and reduces nitrate (NO3-) to nitrite (NO2-). To establish denitrification in Pseudomonas putida EM42, we expressed this construct and tested its activity to convert NO3- into NO2-.
